What happens after the first message?

The valuer will normally clarify the exact subject interest, basis and purpose, then issue a more tailored information request. Audited financial statements are preferred where available, but recent management accounts are commonly used when they are the best information at or near the valuation date. The required documents then depend on the method and subject—such as forecasts for a discounted cash flow model, a fixed asset register for asset valuation, or a cap table and investor presentation for a startup.
